US researchers are now trying to find a way to use stem cells for patients with paralysis or brain injury, for patients with type 1 diabetes, those with spinal cord injury, heart disease, people who have a heart attack or disorder neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis. Many of the studies have been carried out on animals, and the results are in an early stage. It is important to note that the treatment with stem cells is not done with the patient’s own stem cells, because this is how the premises of the disease return are created. Physical therapy is typically the first, and most important, step toward treating cerebral palsy. It usually begins at a young age and is geared toward improving independent motor function. The types of physical therapies used for children depend on their specific movement problems and symptoms that coincide with cerebral palsy. Before physical therapy begins, the therapist takes an assessment of the child’s motor capabilities. This helps determine the most appropriate measures for therapy. After evaluating the child, the therapist will prescribe strength training exercises, stretches and muscle relaxing techniques based on the child’s needs. Exercise equipment includes weights, resistance bands, balance balls and machines to improve muscle tone. Hot and cold packs are often used to help relax and heal muscles.

Early intervention is the most effective way to speed up your child’s development and reduce the symptoms of autism over the lifespan. Learn about autism. Educate yourself about the treatment options, ask questions, and participate in all treatment decisions. Become an expert on your child. Figure out what triggers your kid’s challenging or disruptive behaviors and what elicits a positive response. What does your child find stressful or frightening? Calming? Uncomfortable? Enjoyable? If you understand what affects your child, you’ll be better at troubleshooting problems and preventing or modifying situations that cause difficulties.
Look for the best! Don’t define your child according to his problem – they grow up going through a cascade of problems, challenges that you can tackle together, carefully and deliberately. Do not make a goal of “normality”. People with autism can have extraordinary creativity and intuition, and your goal should be to encourage your child to enjoy his or her strengths and to strengthen the vulnerable.
