Drones and humans jobs problems
Tanker truckers are important to firefighters. However, it comes with a lot of technical difficulties. For instance, before the fire department buys one, they have to consider factors like the number of gallons it can produce per minute and distance of the vehicle from a water source. Still, Firefighters rely on tanker trucks to fight the fire. On the other hand, some use robots to fight fire. Using robots is a better option, especially when the fire is raging in places difficult for humans to access. Firefighters in Abu Dhabi have started using a robot called LUF. The robot developed in Austria can spray up to 2,300 liters of water per minute while maintaining a distance 55 meters away from the inferno. It also the ability to climb stairs, make turns and avoid obstacles.
The University of Washington and Purdue University conducted a study on seventy two children, aged seven to fifteen. The study aimed to find out how children interact with both robot and living dogs. These children were studied as they interacted with Aibo, a robot dog created by Sony, and two living dogs. The results found were promising. However, some limitations were also discovered. The National Robotics Week is one event you cannot afford to miss as a robotics enthusiast. It is packed with activities and grassroots events. Taking place in April 2020, RoboWeek runs from the 4th till the 12th of the month. The purpose of this event is to celebrate and create awareness of the importance and strength of the U.S robotics industry. It also aims at promoting the robotics industry by exhibiting the cultural and social impact robotics have, and will have in time to come. The 2020 RoboWeek sets out to inspire students across backgrounds in robotics and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) related fields, enabling them to share their ideas and excitement with audiences. You can support and celebrate the RoboWeek anywhere in the U.S by hosting the event in your community, sharing the word on social media, attending any of the events or by sponsorship.
Sophia is probably the most famous robot in the world. If you haven’t had the chance to see her in action, check her out interacting with Will Smith: https://youtu.be/Ml9v3wHLuWI Sophia was created by Hanson Robotics, a famous engineering company that dedicates its efforts into creating human-like, living, empathetic, intelligent machines that are able to engage emotionally with people, recognize faces, understand speech, maintain eye contact, hold natural conversations, recognize emotional expressions and various hand gestures, and learn through experience. Sophia’s resounding success has at its base the joint creative effort and hard work of an impressive team of specialists coming from various fields: AI scientists, writers, philosophers, artists, and psychologists. Their common dream was to humanize AI, positively contribute to humankind and make the world a better place. Even more details on a good article.
Special considerations exist when using a robot for special applications. When making a heavy-duty robot, your usual considerations for making its parts are strength, weight, and availability. However, you must also consider how it will interact with the environment. Checking the technical details of all your parts is a must when making robots. Material choice needs to be considered when subjecting robots and robotic parts such as servo controllers about which you can read here in certain places. Usually, they are used to protect either the robot parts or the things where your robot will operate. Here are some of the common materials used which are probably already on your list: As reliable as it sounds, steel is the most common material of choice for heavy-duty robots. Its strength, combined with its availability in the market is its major advantage. You will notice that steel is used as frames or covers in robots.
However, the automotive OEMs took the front row in the number of units ordered in the market as it witnessed a total of 83% demand, the highest amongst other industries. While other robotic industries, including semiconductor/electronics, Life Sciences, and Food/Consumer goods saw an increase in demand of 12%, 8%, and 3% respectively. Plastic & Rubber, Metals, and other industries were also captured in the demand growth with an increase of 8%, 11%, and 4% respectively.
We are arguably seeing a forth revolution as the computing power of the 20th century has taken major leaps forward in the 21st. A connected world. Automation is becoming commonplace in factories and we are starting to see with the Internet of Things how a connected system can change the face of manufacturing. Industry 4.0 will involve these automated systems making key decisions without any input. Find additional information at a quality post.
