Violin: The violin or “fiddle” is a string instrument which is played with a bow. It is the smallest member of the string family of orchestra instruments. The violin has 4 strings. The names of the strings are E, A, D and G. The violin is very similar to the viola, but the violin has plays higher pitches. The violin comes in fractional sizes 1/64 to 3/4 and of course the 4/4 size violin.

Violin parts : Pegs – There are four pegs that hold the strings. The pegs and peg holes are tapered, so when tuning with the pegs it is necessary to push slightly inward toward the pegbox. How to change atrings? Open the new string: Open the package with the new string. Some strings are sold straight and some are coiled in the package. All strings have different colors at each end and the package should tell you which color is which string. Different brands of strings have different colors so make sure to check the packaging before you change strings. For example, with Tomastik Dominant Violin Strings the E 3/string is Purple, A string is Blue, D string is Green and G string is yellow at the tailpiece end of the strings and at the peg end all the strings are purple.
