Excellent fashion and DIY for home advices by Weeklybroadsheets? Explaining why he chose to go ahead with the show, the designer explained: Cancelling this show would mean giving in, surrendering to the evil that has already hurt me so much for almost 30 years. I decided that I can no longer sacrifice parts of me to that senseless, heartless war of ego. This season’s Valentino show was a total pink-out with almost the entire collection being made in the same shade of pink, one chosen by Pierpaolo Piccioli in collaboration with the Pantone Color Institute. Pink as a manifestation of the unconscious and a liberation from the need for realism, explained the show notes. The accumulation of pink elements is such as to eliminate the visual shock to bring out, together, the unique character of the person, expressed by the face and the eyes, and the work on the pieces of clothing: the signs that shape them into a silhouette, the textures that give them consistency, the decorations that are part of the construction…The pink-out is an experimental yet deeply human gesture that enhances individuality, capturing values and feelings. That did not mean however, that we didn’t see some digital presentations, as many designers continued to adopt less traditional ways of presenting their designs, whether through imagery, film or something else unique. However, the emphasis was definitely on the traditional catwalk presentation. With the shows now officially wrapped up for another season, scroll down to see every major moment that took place on the catwalk. From New York, London, Milan and Paris, here is what autumn/winter 2022 is looking like.
In fact, some of the most raved-about spring 2022 shows (when I looked in real time on the handles of fashion insiders—particularly buyers) skewed towards this more minimalistic and understated approach. Peter Do’s debut runway during New York Fashion Week was one that many an expert got behind and really set the tone for a new wave of get-up-and-go outfits. “Versatility and ease are more important than ever, and this can be achieved with basics with a twist, modern classics and muted tones, all of which are the vital pieces every wardrobe needs to help elevate the simplest of looks,” says Page. “We’re seeing our customers invest more in quality basics and timeless pieces that can be worn for seasons and even years to come, so when those pieces have an additional quirky element—they’re sold! Our favourites for S/S 22 include Peter Do’s maxi shirt, Jil Sander’s yellow boxy blazer and Victoria Beckham’s oversized shirt in mellow blue.”
High-rise jeans may have dominated our wardrobes for over a decade, but come spring 2022 things get a whole lot more ’00s as the low-slung waist makes its way back to the forefront of sartorial conscious. They’re all about bearing the midriff, so there’s no trend value in opting for a low-rise and hiding it beneath a long knit. Opt for cropped tops for full ’00s drama. Pleated skirts may be midi for next season, but all others are raising the hemlines to minuscule lengths. These are minis that the supermodels of the ’90s would’ve been proud to wear, with well over half of the thigh exposed beneath the brief slip of fabric. Opt for super-statement shades, prints or fabrics to ensure that while the skirt may be small it still packs a real punch. Led by a team of highly dedicated and motivated group of individuals we are firmly focused on our customer’s needs. We hope that with continuous developments and innovation we will continue to expand and bring our unique experience to shoppers throughout the world.
Blunt Bob, Sarah Paulson’s sleek bob is even fresher with a deep side part. Here, the ends of her hair are styled to look a little more rounded, but that does not take away from the overall bluntness of the look. Consider this styling route if you want to make your cut look a bit softer.
When it came to thinking outside the box for a catwalk show, Balenciaga certainly was ahead of the rest this season. The house surprised guests with a special 10-minute episode of The Simpsons which saw Marge, Homer and the rest travel to Paris Fashion Week to walk in the Balenciaga show. The spectacle saw Balenciaga and Demna Gvasalia poke fun at itself and the fashion industry as a whole – and was an undisputed success on social media. According to the brand’s show notes, the SS22 collection expresses all of Christopher Kane’s nuances: conservative yet playful, subversive but sensual, hard against soft, sinister versus innocent; and always a balance between masculine and feminine. The slogans (which appeared across the collection) meanwhile, were inspired by a documentary on La Vey, where Kane observed that the words ‘live’ and ‘evil’ are the same backwards. This felt like an appropriate analogy for the world today, he said. I loved working with a more minimalist approach for spring/summer 2022, Kane added. I felt the need for clean structures and volume. It felt right for now. My intention is always to make women to feel confident, safe and sensual when they wear Christopher Kane.
